# Multiple brands

> Ship under a brand's own name and return address, set per order.

If you sell under more than one brand, or ship on behalf of other brands, you
can set the sender per order. Shoppers then see the brand they bought from
instead of your company name.

## How it works

* **The brand per order.** Send the brand's name in `senderName`. It replaces
  your company name wherever the shopper or the carrier sees the sender.
* **Optional return address.** Send `returnAddress` when returns for that brand
  should go somewhere other than the location the parcel ships from.
* **No setup per brand.** You can start using a new name straight away.
* **Nothing else changes.** Keep sending the `locationId` the parcel leaves
  from. Pickups, delivery areas, and cutoff times work as before.

Both fields are optional and set when the order is created. Orders without
them look exactly as they do today.

## Create an order for a brand

```bash theme={null}
curl -X POST "https://staging-v2.sparqle.tech/orders" \
  -H "api-key: $SPARQLE_API_KEY" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{
    "locationId": "ABC123",
    "orderRef": "NIKE-10042",
    "senderName": "Nike",
    "returnAddress": {
      "street": "Retourstraat",
      "houseNumber": "12",
      "postalCode": "3500 AA",
      "city": "Utrecht",
      "countryCode": "NL"
    },
    "deliveryName": "Jane Doe",
    "deliveryEmail": "jane@example.com",
    "deliveryAddress": {
      "street": "Gustav Mahlerlaan",
      "houseNumber": "320",
      "postalCode": "1082 ME",
      "city": "Amsterdam",
      "countryCode": "NL"
    }
  }'
```

## Where the sender name appears

| Where | What is shown |
| - | - |
| Shipping label | The sender name |
| Track and trace page | The sender in the header, delivery details, and help text |
| Tracking emails and WhatsApp messages | The shop the parcel is from |
| Review request email | The shop the shopper is asked to rate |
| Delivering carrier | The sender name passed along with the shipment |
| Order in the dashboard and the API | `senderName` on the order |

When you leave `senderName` out, shoppers and carriers see your company name.

## Where the return address appears

| Where | What is shown |
| - | - |
| Sparqle shipping label | The sender address |
| Track and trace page | The sender address in the delivery details |
| Return label | The address the shopper's return is sent to |
| Order in the dashboard and the API | `returnAddress` on the order |

When you leave `returnAddress` out, labels and the track and trace page show
the address of the location.

The return address does not change where the parcel is collected. Carriers
still pick up at the location's address, and labels issued by a partner carrier
show that address as the sender address.

## Good to know

* **The name is shown as you send it.** Use the same spelling on every order
  for a brand. It can be up to 100 characters.
* **The return address is used as sent.** It isn't validated, so check it
  before you send it.
* **Both are fixed at creation.** They are stored on the order and you can't
  update them afterwards, so later changes on your side don't affect parcels
  already on their way.
* **Billing stays with you.** Orders for all brands are invoiced to your
  company.

## A logo and branding per brand

By default every brand uses your logo and your track and trace and email
branding. Sparqle support can set up your brands so each one has its own logo
and its own branding on the track and trace page and in tracking emails.

Once your brands are set up:

* **Brands are recognised by name**, ignoring case, spacing, accents, and
  punctuation. `Nike`, `nike`, `NIKE ` and `Nike.` all count as the same brand.
* **Shoppers see the registered name**, whichever spelling you send.
* **New names still work straight away.** The first order under a new name
  registers the brand. Sparqle support can correct the name, or set a brand up
  before its first order.
* **Spellings can be merged.** If two spellings end up as separate brands, for
  example `Nike` and `Nike Netherlands`, ask Sparqle support to merge them.
  Orders move to the brand you keep, and future orders sent under either name
  are linked to it.
* **A brand without its own branding uses yours.** Email wording, the tracking
  events that trigger emails, and the language stay the same for all your
  brands.
